Book series are awesome, but if you don't have the right stuff in the back matter of each of the books in your series, you are missing out!
Let's say you are releasing the next book in one of your ongoing series. Now, let's say you picked up a 'new to you' reader and they loved your new book. Do you think they will go back and buy the first book in the series?
If you put the following in the back matter of each of your books in your series you will increase the chance of this new reader buying your other books.
1.) Most importantly, thank the reader for buying your book!
2.) Gently nudge, put a call to action link in for the reader to leave you a review.
3.) Invite the reader to join your newsletter subscriber list. You don't have to include all of your social media accounts, just your newsletter or indeed your website if that is where you collect subscribers. Getting them to follow you on all your author accounts will come later in an email to them.
4.) Add a sample of: a.) The next book in the series if you have it ready or b.) The first book in the series. You can always update your book when you are ready with the next in series.
Now that we have covered this basic follow through technique I'd like to note something here. If you don't have a series but you have other books for sale, add a call to action for either those books or for your sales channels page.
"See my other books" or something like that.
